I’m delighted that you’re interested in learning more about me. I have been working in data analysis for over ten years since my student days, and you can find my professional interests and results in my CV or data analysis projects sections. I would like to share my hobbies and interests with you on this page.
Biology
Are you surprised that all living things are made up of about 20 typical blocks called amino acids, and their assembly order is described by a code in DNA (RNA)? It amazes me! Although I do not work in biological laboratories, we live in a time when it is easy to access books, online courses, and even order experiment equipment. I have expressed my interest in taking bioinformatics courses on Coursera, reading books in my spare time (such as “Lehninger: Principles of Biochemistry”), and sometimes buying equipment and reagents for conducting bioengineering experiments. You can read about one of these experiments here.
Aircraft
Another one of my passions is aviation. I recall purchasing a pilot training book out of sheer interest, which you can find an electronic copy of here. The book covered a range of exciting topics such as aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems, and Human performance & limitations. It was through this book that I discovered an average-income person can pay for training for a private pilot license. I’ve already passed the theoretical exams and plan to complete the practical part soon. In the future, I hope to rent planes during my vacations and fly to exciting places periodically. I’m delighted that my father shares my passion, and we sometimes fly together on the plane.
Society
Lastly, I am interested in the structure of society. Can we build an equal society if we cannot agree with our neighbors to change the front door of our building? If it is impossible to create such a society, and there will always be stratification, what position should we take? While professional political scientists and sociologists work on an answer to these questions, I read interesting books, discussing different ideas with a friend over a cup of coffee and take courses to understand what kind of society I would like to live in.
In conclusion, if you are interested in any of the above, I would happily discuss these topics. You can find my contacts on the main page of this site. And if you’re looking for a gift idea, here is my wishlist for inspiration. ;)
